Potomac Pedalers Touring Club holds a weekly “Lunch in Shirlington Bike Ride” Sundays beginning at 10 AM year round (weather permitting.) Meet at the brick plaza in front of the Shirlington Library and Signature Theatre to select a restaurant where you will reconvene at noon. The bike ride travels first on a portion of the W&OD Trail, then the Custis Trail, the Mount Vernon Trail, and the Four Mile Run Trail with a rest stop at Starbuck’s in Lyon Village, and a brief regrouping at Gravelly Point (there is a cue sheet for the Arlington Loop on the PPTC website, and it will be passed out at the ride). The 3-4 miles on the Custis Trail are hilly but the rest of the ride is pretty flat. Then enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants in Shirlington (free parking in garages and lots on weekends). All levels are welcome. For those who want more or fewer miles you may continue up the W&OD and return to join the group for lunch). If raining, icy or wind speed is greater than 15 MPH the ride will be cancelled. Check the “Ride News” Forum on the Potomac Pedalers website for last minute cancellation information. For more information, contact the ride leader Ron Trueworthy .
