Today’s Washington Post reports that Arlington public high schools finished 1st, 6th, 8th and 52nd out of 195 Washingotn area schools in the Washington Post Challenge Index which measures how many college level tests were taken (including AP exams, International Baccalaureate exams and in some circumstances final exams with dual enrollment in college classes) divided by the number of graduating seniors.
HB Woodlawn finished in the top spot where it has been since 2004 and 46th nationally with Washington-Lee High School and Yorktown, which have consistently been in the top ten, finishing 6th and 8th respectively. Wakefield finished at 52nd in the DC area. This also puts Arlington County schools at #2 in Northern Virginia with only Falls Church City, which only has one high school, finishing ahead.

Authors Note: My copy of The Washington Post shows the results above, but the online version shows Washington-Lee and Yorktown reversed with W-L in the 8th spot and Yorktown in 6th. I am trying to confirm which is accurate with the Post and will update that information here as soon as I have it.
