The Arlington Public Schools Summer Activities Fair will be held on Fri, Feb. 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 S. 2nd Street.  Come check out activities offered this summer from over 100 different camps and organizations.  Programs include  APS Summer School, Arlington County Parks and Recreation, academic and art programs, day camps, sport camps, overnight camps and camps offering accommodations for children with special needs.  To see the complete list of programs  go to this site.  Teens looking for work and/or volunteer opportunities can also get information during the event of organizations that need assistance.

Join Arlington’s Children & Nature Network for a Winter Nature Celebration

Chick-fil-A at the Ballston Common Food Court and the Arlington Children and Nature Network are holding a Winter Nature Celebration on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 10am to 2pm.  Come to the lower level of the mall near Chick-fil-A.   (If Arlington Public Schools announces activities are closed that day due to inclement weather then it will be moved to February 18th. This free event will include activities to learn about nature and how to enjoy our urban environment, even in winter, including crafts, exhibits, a kid-friendly walk of the Ballston neighborhood led by WalkArlington, and refreshments including hot beverages courtesy of Chick-fil-A.  The 45 minute walk will begin at 11 am.  For more information or to RSVP, email office@arlingtonenvironment.org or call 703-228-6427.

#179 – Celebrate Mardi Gras at Lucy’s Arl

 

Enjoy the tastes, sounds, and ambiance of a true N’awlins-style Mardi Gras! Lucy’s ARL in Shirlington is offering VIP packages which allow you to scoop crawfish straight off the table, feast on jambalaya and build your own oyster po’boys.  You can also search for the baby in authentic King Cake, drink frozen concoctions and enjoy the sounds of free flowing horns. They will have bead contests every half-hour so the fun will continue all night long. After hours, enjoy beignets and coffee.  For 2012, this event will be held Saturday, February 18th.

#177 – Come to The City Dark

Saturday, 25th @ 6:30 – 8:30 pm will be the premiere Screening of a Feature Documentary, “The City Dark, a search for night on a planet that never sleeps”.  The event to benefit “Save the Planetarium” will be held at Founders Hall Auditorium, GMU – Arlington Campus, 3351 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA.

#176 – Celebrate Dogtober Day

Bring your dog to Lacey Woods Park for games for dogs and dog lovers like Scoopy the Poopy and a fun dog show with categories like Best Kisser, Best Tail Wagger and Cutest Costume. This annual event is typically held the first or second Saturday in October.  Check this website as it gets closer for this year’s dates.

#175 – Attend a Style Exchange

Ladies – why shop when you can swap? On Wednesday, September 30th, 2010 you can drop off unwanted clothes at the Eleventh Street Lounge starting at 5:30, enjoy a Happy Hour, and then pick up clothes you want to take home beginning at 7. Online tickets $7 or $10 cash at the door. Unclaimed items benefit Dress for Success or Goodwill. Go to the website for more information.

Today 9/29/10 from 1-7, the Digital Bookmobile will be in Central Library’s East side parking lot to help you learn more about the library’s growing e-book and audio recording collections which are downloadable for free 24/7 with your library card.

#173 – Come to Hallowgreen

‎Order your early bird tickets to Hallowgreen, the Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment’s fundraising gala by October 4th. The event begins with a VIP reception at Twisted Vines on October 27th, 2010 at 6:30 followed by the main event at The Salsa Room from 7:30-9:30.
