Spider Kelly’s is a great place to watch football, enjoy Happy Hour or get a late night meal. Nominated for ABBIE awards for both Best Happy Hour and Best Late Night Spot, this Clarendon hot spot has 31 televisions to watch College or NFL football or other sporting events and they have drink specials on weekends from 11-8 as well as from 4-8 weekdays. Spider Kelly’s is open till 2 AM daily and serves their entire menu until last call.

#212 – Grab a brat and a beer at Thirsty Bernie’s

Nominated for an ABBIE award for Best Neighborhood Bar, Thirsty Bernie’s Sports Bar and Grill on Glebe Road near the intersection with Lee Highway has surprisingly good food to go along with its vast beer selection and multiple televisions for watching your favorite sporting event.

#203 – Check out Rustico Restaurant in Ballston

Described as the “quintessential neighborhood pub”, the Arlington location of Rustico is located at 4075 Wilson Blvd. near the intersection with Randolph Street.  The menu features seasonal, hearty American fare from a wood-fired oven and grill, including pizzas and rotisserie meats.  Washington City Paper called the Alexandria location one of the 50 best restaurants in DC.  Enhanced by Zemanta

Bob and Edith’s Diner, located at 2310 Columbia Pike, Arlington, has been a family owned and operated diner since 1969.  Open 24 hours a day, they were just nominated for an ABBIE award for “Best Late Night Out”.

#198 – Come listen to oldies at Jay’s Saloon

Editor’s Note:  Jay’s Saloon is now closed.

Jay’s Saloon, nominated for an ABBIE award for “Best Neighborhood Bar” is one of Arlington’s last true dive bars. Every Friday night from 9-12 Pee Wee features classic rock hits from the 1960’s through the 1980’s. If you answer a random trivia question you might get draft beer for a quarter.  Every other Saturday night, they have live music from classic rock bands.  In addition, they offer half price burgers on Tuesday nights and Happy Hour prices from 4-7 Monday through Friday and during NFL football games.  Jay’s is located a few blocks from the Clarendon Metro at 3114 N. 10th Street.

Looking for authentic Italian food at reasonable prices?  Sette Bello in Clarendon has outdoor dining weather permitting, party rooms for private events and TVs at the bar for sporting events. Happy Hour prices from 4-7 with $2.50 draft beer and rail mixed drinks, $3.50 pinot grigio and montepulciano wines.

The Iota Club and Cafe in Clarendon offers live music every night. Admission to the club is on a first come first serve basis and cover charges generally range from $10-20.   Open Mic Night is  held every Wednesday from 8:00PM to 12:30AM and there is no admission charge.  There is also no charge for the cafe where dinner is served from 5-11 Sunday-Thursday and 5-12 Friday and Saturday.

#22 – Enjoy the rooftop pavillion at Clarendon Ballroom

 

Weather permitting this hot spot on Wilson Boulevard is generally open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays starting at 5:00 PM.  Lines can form early and you must be 21 with a valid ID to enter. The ballroom itself, which often features a DJ or live music, is open most Thursdays and Fridays and occasional Saturdays from 5 PM to 2:00 AM unless they are hosting a private event.  Visit their website for photos and a calendar which is updated frequently.  On October 30th, 2010, there will be a Halloween Bash in the ballroom with a costume contest.
