The Iceplex is a state-of-the-art facility located atop the Ballston Common Mall parking garage, serving as the official home of the NHL Washington Capitals, with Capitals practices held here and open to the public free of charge. The facility features two full NHL-sized indoor rinks, a 20,000-square-foot training center, locker rooms, a ProShop, a Capitals Team Store, and a snack bar — making it the most fully equipped ice facility in the DC area, and the only year-round indoor rink inside the Beltway accessible directly by Metro. Programs include public skating, Stick-N-Shoot, adult pickup hockey, broomball, learn-to-skate, figure skating, and year-round learn-to-play hockey for youth and adults.
