When the new terminal was constructed in 1997 National Airport was designed to have both architectural and artistic interest. 30 pieces of artwork were commissioned to be integral parts of the building, including floor medallions, balustrades, murals, a bridge sculpture, a sunscreen panel and stained glass friezes.
