Westover Beer Garden

There are neighborhood bars, and then there are neighborhood institutions. Westover Market Beer Garden & Haus at 5863 Washington Boulevard has firmly earned the latter status — a veteran-owned, community-rooted gathering place that has been woven into the fabric of North Arlington for over 20 years. The setup is genuinely one of a kind: a full-service neighborhood market and butcher shop on one side, a lively outdoor beer garden and indoor Haus bar on the other, connected by a shared commitment to quality, locality, and the kind of unpretentious welcome that makes regulars out of first-timers. The outdoor beer garden in particular is one of the most relaxed and convivial spots in all of Arlington — picnic tables, string lights, outdoor big screens for game days, and live music from local musicians drifting across the patio on weekend evenings. It is also surprisingly family friendly.

The beer program alone justifies the trip. The Great Wall of Beer stocks over 1,000 selections spanning domestic, imports, and microbrews, with 10 draft lines in the Haus and 6 in the beer garden — and the rotating tap list means there’s almost always something new to try. The food menu leans into the market’s own butcher shop: all menu items are prepared daily using organic local produce, freshly baked breads, and local eco-friendly meats from the on-site butcher, resulting in burgers, brisket sandwiches, pulled pork, and house-made corned beef that punch well above typical bar food. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday mornings.
