Dance on the Pike at Arlington’s Biggest Block Party
Every summer since 1995, Columbia Pike has hosted the largest Blues Festival in the DC metropolitan area — a free outdoor music event that sees thousands of residents and visitors come together each year in South Arlington. Dubbed “Arlington’s best block party,” it’s earned that description across nearly three decades of genuinely excellent lineups. The festival spans live blues, jazz, bluegrass, and funk from 1 to 8:30 p.m., along with family-friendly activities, craft beer and wine, food trucks, local restaurant vendors, artisan market stalls, and community nonprofit booths—all concentrated across three blocks at the intersection of South Walter Reed Drive and Columbia Pike. Past headliners have included New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Bette Smith, Grammy-nominated guitarist Judith Hill, and DC’s award-winning funk-soul group Everyday Everybody.
Now heading into its 29th year, the 2026 festival on June 13th carries special significance: as the 15-year Columbia Pike construction project finally reaches its end, the 2026 festival will be a central part of a celebratory “welcome back” for the corridor—making this an especially meaningful year to attend if you’ve been watching the Pike’s long transformation. The festival is presented by the Columbia Pike Partnership in collaboration with Arlington Arts, and free admission has been a non-negotiable feature of its identity from the beginning. Bring a folding chair, wear comfortable shoes, and plan to stay the full day. Follow the Columbia Pike Partnership at columbia-pike.org for the lineup announcement and full vendor list.
