#38 – Come to the Taste of Arlington
Taste of Arlington
See the Ballston area turned into a lively street festival at the annual Taste of Arlington every May where more than 50 restaurants will have samples of their food. There will also be a beer pavillion, singing and dancing performances from local artists on two stages and a KidZone. For 2014, the event will be held May 18th from noon to five. Booths will be set up along Wilson Blvd. from Glebe Road to N Quincy Street and on Stuart Street to 9th Street. You can purchase tickets online or at the event. This year a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). Parking is available in the Ballston Parking Garage or watch the video below for public transportation options.
#37 – Eat an authentic Italian meal at Sfoglina
An Italian restaurant in Rosslyn from Fabio Trabocchi, Sfoglina offers fine dining in a “luxe casual” setting. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and have a rooftop terrace for private events.
#36 – Eat Chesapeake Bay Steamed Crabs
One of my favorite things about this area is being able to get blue crabs steamed with Old Bay seasoning and eat them outdoors, preferably by the water, but if you want to stay in Arlington, The Quarterdeck will do just fine. The season generally runs from mid-late April until October.
#35 – Stop and smell the roses
#34 – See free movies at the Shirlington Library
The Shirlington Branch Library hosts many free movies throughout the year, including family movie matinees, an emerging filmmaker series, classic screwball comedies, real life reels (documentaries), and Arlington Reads films. For a complete schedule, call the Shirlington Branch Library at 703-228-6545 or visit their website. For the 2010-2011 Winter season they will be hosting a “Billy Wilder” film series.
