The Friends of the Arlington Public Library present the Eight-Thirteen Ball: a literary-themed social event created to raise money for the Library’s Early Literacy initiatives to be held Saturday, September 28th, 2013 from 8-11 pm at Arlington Artisphere.
The Eight-Thirteen Ball gets its name from the Dewey Decimal Classification for American Fiction: 813. The inaugural theme is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby,” and prizes will be awarded for the best 1920s-style attire.
Tickets can be purchased from the Friends of the Library for $30.
Highlights of the Ball include 1920s music, a Lindy Hop dance troupe demonstrating 1920s dances, and a silent auction to benefit 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, a new early literacy initiative. Canapes will be served and drinks available for purchase.
