Follow the Arlington Loop

The Arlington Loop is composed of four local trails — the Mount Vernon Trail, the Custis Trail, the Washington & Old Dominion Trail (W&OD), and the Four Mile Run Trail — forming a paved 16-mile circuit that is largely separated from vehicle traffic. The Loop can be walked, run, jogged, or biked in full or in sections, with access points near Rosslyn, Ballston, Shirlington, Crystal City, and more. Wayfinding maps along the trails show how to connect to nearby neighborhoods and the closest Capital Bikeshare stations, with icons marking transit hubs, restrooms, and water fountains. It’s one of the best ways to experience the breadth and variety of Arlington all in a single outing.
