Enjoy a Night Out at Freddie’s Beach Bar

Freddie’s Beach Bar is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026 — a remarkable run for Northern Virginia’s only LGBTQ+, straight-friendly bar and restaurant, which owner Freddie Lutz opened at 555 23rd St. S. in Crystal City in 2001. What started as a beach-themed neighborhood bar has grown into one of Arlington’s most beloved and inclusive nightlife destinations, known for its rainbow flags, tinsel-and-glitter décor, weekly drag shows, karaoke nights, and the warm, irreverent hospitality that Lutz — a Crystal City lifer who has worked on 23rd Street for over 45 years — brings to every interaction.
Saturday night’s “Freddie’s Follies” drag show at 8 p.m. is the signature event and reservations are strongly recommended. The full bar features happy hour daily from 4–8 p.m. The kitchen serves American pub fare including fish and chips (the owner’s personal favorite), burgers, sandwiches, and a popular Saturday and Sunday brunch buffet. Two blocks from the Crystal City Metro station (Blue/Yellow lines). Hours are Monday–Friday 4 p.m.–2 a.m., Saturday–Sunday 11 a.m.–2 a.m. Visit freddiesbeachbar.com or call (703) 685-0555.
