Build Skills, Build Community — Support Phoenix Bikes

Phoenix Bikes is one of Arlington’s most quietly extraordinary organizations — a nonprofit that has figured out how to use bicycles as a vehicle for youth development, community connection, and environmental stewardship all at once. Phoenix Bikes reaches 300–400 sixth through twelfth graders annually through free afterschool and summer programs, including its flagship Earn-a-Bike program, through which students learn to repair bikes, refurbish bikes for community members in need, and fix up a bike to keep for themselves — developing critical thinking skills, work ethic, and a genuine passion for cycling in the process.

Phoenix Bikes keeps over 1,000 bikes out of local landfills each year by refurbishing out-of-service bikes and repurposing used parts and its full-service retail shop at 909 S. Dinwiddie Street offers affordable refurbished bikes and professional repair services to the whole community. You can support Phoenix Bikes by donating a used bike, volunteering in the shop or with youth programs, attending community events, or simply buying your next bike or tune-up here instead of at a chain. Every dollar spent and every hour donated goes directly back into keeping the programs free for students. Learn more at phoenixbikes.org.
