Play Pickleball – Indoors or Out

Pickleball has taken Arlington by storm, and the county’s network of courts has grown to match the demand. Seven county parks have outdoor pickleball courts shared with other sports — including Fort Scott Park, Glebe Road Park, Hayes Street Park, Lubber Run, Virginia Highlands in National Landing (two courts with a hitting wall), and Walter Reed Community Center, which has nine courts — six striped on tennis courts and three on the basketball court. Most outdoor courts are free and open on a first-come, first-served basis, making a spontaneous game entirely possible on any warm afternoon.
Five community center gyms — Arlington Mill, Carver, Lubber Run, Walter Reed, and Thomas Jefferson Community and Fitness Center — offer pickleball at designated times indoors. For the most structured and social experience, the YMCA Arlington Tennis & Pickleball Center has six dedicated courts open to players of all ages and abilities, with tournaments, league play, instructional clinics, and private lessons available. A pickleball-only membership is available for those who want regular access. For the full current drop-in schedule across all county facilities, visit the Arlington County website. To find and schedule games with other players, pickleballarlingtonva.com and pickleheads.com are excellent resources.
