Take a Stroll Through Freedom Park

Perched above the streets of Rosslyn on an elevated concrete structure originally built as a highway overpass, Freedom Park offers a surprisingly peaceful two-block linear retreat in one of Arlington’s most urban neighborhoods. The park was founded in 1996 in partnership with the Newseum as a tribute to the global struggle for press freedom, and its most enduring feature remains the Spectrum of Freedom — seven vivid tile murals created by artist Karen Singer with contributions from 270 Arlington schoolchildren. Today the park serves as a quiet green escape with benches, gardens, and sweeping views, tucked above the busy streets below. rosslynva.org/go/freedom-park
