Throw a Punch (or Two)

Looking for a workout that’s anything but boring? Arlington’s boxing scene has something for everyone — whether you want to learn real technique, torch calories, or just unleash some stress on a heavy bag. Here’s your guide to the best places to lace up in the Arlington area.
Urban Boxing Arlington — Where Real Skills Meet Real Results
If you’re searching for the most well-rounded boxing experience in Northern Virginia, look no further than Urban Boxing Arlington, located at 3701 Fairfax Dr in Virginia Square.
Urban Boxing has earned recognition as one of the best boxing and kickboxing gyms in the region, winning awards from Washingtonian, Best of NoVa, and Best of D.C. — and they offer your first class completely free.
What makes Urban Boxing stand out from the typical boutique fitness studio is the sheer depth of what’s included. Members get access to calorie-torching boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Strength & Conditioning, an Abs Class, Yoga, and more — all unlimited and included with your membership, with no contracts required.
Urban Boxing has been named the Best Kickboxing Studio in Northern Virginia Magazine for multiple consecutive years which speaks to the quality of instruction you’ll find here. Whether you’re stepping into the ring for the first time or looking to refine your martial arts skills, classes blend fundamentals with advanced techniques, covering footwork, striking combinations, bag work, pad holding, and partner drills for both offense and defense.
The community vibe is a major draw. Urban Boxing Arlington fosters a strong sense of community where beginners and seasoned fighters can train side by side, and coaches are praised for their personalized attention and constructive feedback. Unique perks like loaner equipment and flexible class schedules make it easy for newcomers to jump in without overwhelming commitments.

Rumble Boxing Courthouse — The High-Energy Boutique Experience
For those who want their workout to feel more like a party than a gym session, Rumble Boxing has landed in Arlington’s Courthouse neighborhood at 2055 15th St. N.
Each class is a 45-minute, 10-round session evenly split between boxing skills and drills and strength training, set to a mega-watt sound system with custom Rumble-only playlists. No two workouts are ever the same, so you’ll never hit a plateau — or get bored.
Rumble’s instructors step onto the podium as part DJ, part motivational speaker, orchestrating an epic workout engineered to custom hip-hop and house mash-ups. Think of it less as a fitness class and more as a concert where you also happen to get an incredible full-body workout.
Every combo is displayed on screen so you can follow along easily, and the classes are genuinely beginner-friendly — the motto is “10 rounds, 2 fists, zero experience necessary.”
The Arlington Courthouse location is co-owned by Maria and Brad Grenke, who grew up in the D.C. area and returned to bring the Rumble community to one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the country.
