Whether you are spending the day in the kitchen cooking the holiday meal, running in the Turkey Trot, visiting with family and friends, or sitting in front of the television all day watching the Macy’s Parade, all the football games and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, be thankful and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Shop Till You Drop
Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is the start of the holiday shopping season, and many retailers offer special deals or longer hours to get a jump start. In Arlington, Pentagon City Mall plans to open at 5 am. The Best Buy at Pentagon City is also opening at 5 am. Nearby, several stores at Potomac Yards plan early opening hours, including The Children’s Place at midnight, Target at 4 am and Best Buy at 5 am.
Tysons Corner Center is having Midnight Madness with free giveaways, DJs and a Free For All every hour on the hour from 12-5AM and a chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree. The first 200 shoppers to come to Macy’s Court (Level one, outside Macy’s) will receive free $10 American Express Gift Cards. Potomac Mills and Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets also plan to open at midnight.
Specific sale information is usually found in circulars in the Thanksgiving Day newspaper, but several online sites have leaked some of the sale information and can be found by visiting BlackFriday.fm.
#229 – Give Back
The holidays are a great time to give something back to the community. Volunteer Arlington allows you to register online for holiday volunteer projects. While there are special needs during the holidays, many of these organizations can use volunteer assistance year round.
#228 – Make plans to eat out on Thanksgiving
Don’t want to cook for Thanksgiving? How about making a reservation for dinner out and let someone else do the cooking. Check Open Table for Arlington restaurants that are open for Thanksgiving.
Long & Foster is participating in Toys for Tots
Long & Foster offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region are participating in the Toys for Tots donation drive. 2015 marks the company’s 25th year participating in the holiday collection campaign. Between now and mid-December, each of the company’s nearly 200 sales offices throughout seven states will accept donations or new unwrapped gifts for disadvantaged children.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program began with a single campaign in 1947. In 2009, Marines distributed gifts to 7.4 million children in 691 communities nationwide. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation relies on individual donations from the American public as well as support from corporate sponsors. For more information, visit www.toysfortots.org.
Long & Foster’s Arlington Office at 4600 Lee Highway is part of the community in which we operate and we’re honored to have this opportunity to not only contribute to the Toys for Tots initiative, but to give our fellow community members a convenient location to make their donations. We will collect all of the new, unwrapped toy donations and ensure that less fortunate children in our area are the recipients of some holiday cheer.
For other office locations, go to the Long & Foster website and put in the name of the city or town under “office location” that would be most convenient for you.
