Covet is a new art, jewelry and home decor gallery near Ballston. The shop, which just opened in May, has already been nominated for Best Boutique and Best New Business in the ABBIE Awards. Hours are Wed-Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 12-5. Thursday, October 21st they will be holding a Mad Men Cocktail Party from 7-10:30.
#195 – Cheer on your favorite Marching Band
Wakefield, Washington-Liberty and Yorktown High School Marching Bands play at Friday night football games as well as at various competitions through the year, including an APS Marching Band Showcase which will have all three of them performing. This is typically held in October. Check the schools’ websites for specific dates and locations and come out to cheer them on.

It’s time to vote for the ABBIES
The 2010 ABBIES nominations are in and between now and November 8th you can cast your final vote for Arlington’s Best Businesses in fifteen different categories, including Best Bargain Restaurant, Best Boutique, Best Happy Hour, Best Family Friendly Restaurant and Best Late Night Spot.
In addition to recognition from the Arlington County Board, ABBIE winners receive a year’s worth of acknowledgment from Arlington Economic Development including promotion on the Arlington County Web site and special placement in the Arlington County Visitors Guide and Map.

You can pick up your camping gear, scout uniforms, or other outdoor specialty items at Casual Adventure, a locally owned store on Washington Blvd. in the Clarendon/Virginia Square area that has been in operation since 1955.
Casual Adventure also accepts donations of warm clothing, footwear, gear and accessories for ASPAN, the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network.
