Enjoy Happy Hour at the Ballston Harris Teeter

Who knew grocery shopping could be so much fun?

Only in Arlington would a grocery store make a genuine list of best happy hour spots — but the Harris Teeter at 600 N. Glebe Rd. in Ballston earns its place. The store relocated to a brand new, nearly 50,000-square-foot two-level building in April 2024, complete with a wine and beer bar on the mezzanine overlooking the expansive wine department below. The bar offers glasses of wine, craft beer, and specialty cocktails alongside an upstairs Murray’s Cheese Shop, making it an unexpectedly civilized stop for a post-work drink or a glass of something while you wait for your grocery order to come together. And on Thursdays, there is live music! Arlington Connection noted that the bar has been popular in other Harris Teeter locations and is “almost always busy.”

Beyond the bar, the new Ballston location includes hand-rolled sushi made in-store, a hot bar, made-to-order pizza and subs, an expanded organic produce section, a Starbucks coffee bar, and a full-service meat and seafood counter.
