Get a 55+ Pass

Arlington County’s 55+ Program has been running since 1954 — making it the first officially organized senior program in the state of Virginia. With approximately 6,500 registered participants today, the program offers hundreds of activities each quarter across five community center locations, ranging from senior boot camp and Tai Chi to art classes, book discussions, Pilates with live music, ice skating outings, cycling groups, and a dedicated travel program that can offer up to 12 trips per month.
Participation requires an annual 55+ Pass, available to Arlington residents for $30 (or $40 for a household) — a remarkable value given the breadth of programming. Nobody is turned away for inability to pay. The 55+ Guide, published bi-monthly and available online, lists every class and activity with direct registration links. You can upgrade to a GOLD pass for $75 annually to access the fitness center facilities. For active adults looking to stay fit, stay connected, and stay curious, the 55+ program is one of Arlington’s most underappreciated public assets.
