Drop In at Thomas Jefferson Community Center

Thomas Jefferson Community Center — affectionately known as TJ — is the anchor of South Arlington’s recreation scene and one of the most comprehensively equipped public facilities in the entire county. The spacious center features indoor pickleball courts available most weekday mornings until 2 p.m., an indoor running track — one of the very few in all of Northern Virginia — and an expansive fitness center stocked with cardio machines, free weights, and strength equipment. The indoor track alone makes TJ worth knowing about, offering year-round mileage regardless of weather, heat, or the short days of winter. You can also play basketball and volleyball on the multi-use courts. And the game room has table tennis. pool tables, foosball and air hockey.  Board Games can also be checked out at the front desk. Fitness membership or daily pass may be required for use of some of the facilities.

Beyond fitness, TJ’s art studios support photography, pottery, jewelry making, and woodworking, and run programs including a Paint-A-Plate option and Pilates and wellness sessions — making it genuinely one of the most multifaceted community centers in the county. Whether you’re coming for a drop-in workout, signing up for a ceramics class, or finally getting serious about pickleball, TJ has a reason to visit nearly every day of the week.
