Shred the Bowls at Powhatan Springs Skate Park

Powhatan Skate Park Arlington

How about skateboarding at Powhatan Springs skate park? The beautifully renovated Powhatan Springs Skate Park is an award-winning 17,000-square-foot facility combining old-school and street elements, including two bowls, a snake zone, and a street area — the result of a $1.8 million renovation completed in 2019 that transformed what had been a crumbling original facility into one of the finest public skateparks in the region. Designed by Team Pain, the layout is thoughtfully layered: a smaller oval-shaped bowl and a larger bean-shaped bowl with pool coping serve the transition skaters, while a street section with stairs, rails, ledges, and a hubba caters to those who prefer a more technical, street-skating experience. The smooth concrete surface and the variety of elements mean the park rewards both beginners and experienced riders equally, and it’s rare to visit without finding a wide mix of ages and skill levels sharing the space with genuine camaraderie.

The skate park has general operating hours that include set times for free skate, managed sessions, and BMX-only sessions; helmets are required at all sessions and must be brought from home. The park sits within the broader Powhatan Springs Park, which includes a youth athletic field, a children’s rain garden with an educational bioretention fountain, and a small stream — making the surrounding area worth a wander even for non-skaters. Located at 6020 Wilson Boulevard near Seven Corners. Full hours and session schedule at the county website.
