#341 – Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at an Irish Pub

Arlington has a wealth of Irish pubs where you can celebrate St. Patrick’s day, listen to Irish music, down a pint of Guinness and eat corned beef and cabbage.  Many are opening up early on St. Patrick’s Day and offering live music or other specials.

For authentic and festive St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Arlington, Virginia, The Celtic House on Columbia Pike is a standout choice. This family-owned pub consistently offers lively events, including live Irish music, traditional dancing, and hearty Irish breakfasts. On St. Patrick’s Day, they open early, serving an Irish breakfast until 11 AM, followed by live musical performances. The recently added Whiskey Bar downstairs provides an intimate setting with an expanded selection of spirits.

Another excellent option is O’Sullivans Irish Pub in Clarendon. Known for its extensive whiskey selection and vibrant atmosphere, O’Sullivan’s hosts live music, trivia nights, and comedy shows, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.

In the Courthouse area, Ireland’s Four Courts offers a cozy pub atmosphere with traditional Irish fare. They feature live music, Irish dancing, and a wide selection of Irish whiskeys and beers, ensuring a lively St. Patrick’s Day experience.

Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub in Shirlington is another great choice for St. Patrick’s Day and a Celtic Festival in the Fall.

These establishments have a history of hosting memorable St. Patrick’s Day events and are likely to continue the tradition in the future. It’s advisable to check their official websites or contact them directly for the most current information on upcoming celebrations.

And don’t forget Washington’s longtime establishment, The Dubliner on Capitol Hill.

But to keep the luck of the Irish alive, don’t drink and drive.  Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will be offering Sober-Ride, free taxi rides (up to $15 fare) for a 12 hour period from the afternoon/early evening of  March 17th to the early morning of  March 18th.  Visit the Sober-Ride website to get a code to use on Lyft.
