#256 – Get Outside to Watch the Lunar Eclipse

We will have a total lunar eclipse beginning about 1:30 a.m. EST Tuesday, December 21st which is also the Winter Solstice, something that hasn’t happened in 350 years. Totality will be about 2:41 a.m. EST and will last a little over an hour. If you only want to be outside for a few minutes, try to time it so you are watching at 3:17 a.m. when the moon will be in its deepest shadow. #183 – Check out Artisphere
A new art space in the old Newseum building in Rosslyn, Artisphere officially opens 10-10-10 with two days of free open houses. The facility includes three galleries,three theatres, a 3000 sq. ft. ballroom, and an outdoor terrace. The site will be used to showcase “thought-provoking, weird and wonderful arts activities” including “Skateboarding Side Effects”, weekly Salsa Tuesdays in the ballroom featuring regional and national bands, the Washington Shakespeare Company, comedy shows, a banjo and fiddle festival and the Aurora Opera currently presenting “The Secret Marriage”.
