#260 – Attend a Benefit for the Planetarium
There will be a Benefit for the Arlington Planetarium at the newly renovated IOTA Club & Cafe in Clarendon on Sunday, December 26 at 8PM. You must be 21 or older and they are requesting a minimum $10 donation. Musical performances include J.P. Reali, The Mantis, Robinson Lee Earle, The Last Monarchs and Lost Civilizations experimental music project.
The Friends of the Planetarium has also launched a 10-day challenge to try to raise $20,000 for the David M. Brown Planetarium which is being threatened with closure if enough funds cannot be raised to support it. Please donate or make a pledge and spread the word. The challenge ends New Years Eve.
In addition, Night at the Planetarium Part 3 will be held on December 29th from 4-9PM. Be sure and visit the Planetarium website for more information.

UPDATE 07/19/21: Tranquil Space was taken over by Yoga Works in 2017 but that has now permanently closed. They do offer online programs which you can check out through their Facebook page.

#256 – Get Outside to Watch the Lunar Eclipse

We will have a total lunar eclipse beginning about 1:30 a.m. EST Tuesday, December 21st which is also the Winter Solstice, something that hasn’t happened in 350 years. Totality will be about 2:41 a.m. EST and will last a little over an hour. If you only want to be outside for a few minutes, try to time it so you are watching at 3:17 a.m. when the moon will be in its deepest shadow.
