24th Annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival
The 24th Annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 1 pm to 7 pm
Bring your blankets or low chairs out to enjoy live jazz all day long in Gateway Park, just across the Key Bridge from Washington, DC
The performers at this year’s Rosslyn Jazz Festival include the Rebirth Brass Band from 5:30 to 6:45, Red Bararat from,3:45 to 5, Ghost Train Orchestra from 2:15 to 3:15 and the Corey Wallace DUBtet from 1 to 2.
There will also be a mix of local food trucks, as well as fashion trucks The Thread Truck and Street Boutique and beer and wine for sale provided by Washington Wine Academy.
There will be street around Gateway Park all day from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.. Parking will be available in the parking garage at 1911 N. Fort Myer Drive(the entrance is on N. Moore St.). The festival is also easily accessible from the Rosslyn Metro station. Click for walking directions from the Metro.

2015 Arlington County Fair
The 2015 Arlington County Fair begins Wednesday August 5th and will run through Sunday, August 9th at Thomas Jefferson Community Center. The fair features competitive exhibits, carnival rides, food vendors, piglet races, pony rides, a kids court with face painting, inflatables, and other games and activities, entertainment including appearances by the Harlem Wizards, musical groups and outdoor movies.
This year the fair begins with an opening parade at Highland and 2nd Street S. on Wednesday August 5th at 6:00 pm. For hours, schedule of performances and more information, visit the Arlington County Fair website.

Go Back to School Shopping – its Tax Free Weekend August 1-3, 2014
Virginia is offering a tax free weekend Friday August 1st through Sunday August 3rd for certain back to school items, including school supplies that are $20 or less and qualifying apparel and footwear that is $100 or less.
The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City in Arlington has announced that they will help shoppers save even more through retailer coupons and other special offerings available online at the Simon Retailer Showcase available at simon.com. Shoppers who spend $150 or more at any store in The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City can present their receipt at Guest Services for a free water tumbler gift (while supplies last).
To add some excitement to the back-to-school season, The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is teaming up with Madame Tussauds Wax Museum! Shoppers can stop by to see a life-size, three-dimensional wax replica of Justin Bieber on August 2nd from 1-3 pm.

4th of July 2015 Celebration in Arlington

There is no on-site parking for the event with the exception of vehicles displaying disability hang tags (limited availability). There will be FREE shuttles running continuously during the event with stops at Crystal City (bus bay C on Bell Street) and Pentagon City (pick up at the bus shelter on Hayes Street at 12th Street) and FREE parking nearby at the Shops at Crystal City parking garage. There is also some bicycle parking.
World Cup Soccer – Watch USA vs. Belgium at Central Library 7/1/2014
The U.S. vs. Belgium World Cup Soccer match will be playing at Central Library.
The big screen near the Welcome Desk on the first floor will be showing the game on Tuesday 7/1 at 4 p.m. Feel free to bring a drink (non-alcoholic), grab a book to read during breaks and gather to cheer the U.S.A. on. According to the library website, “cheering is allowed on the first floor. Poor sportsmanship, wagering and references to Smurfs and waffles are not.”
The winner of the game will move on to the round of 16. If the U.S.A. wins by 10 or more, all Library fines will be waived.
