Recently renamed (from Market Common Clarendon), The Crossing Clarendon includes Barnes & Noble, the Apple Store, Loft, Pottery Barn, Soul Cycle, Crate & Barrell, Williams Sonoma and other favorite stores around “The Loop.” It also includes nearby stores and restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Whole Foods, Orvis, Seamore’s, TTT and Lululemon. The loop is being redeveloped to include more trees, more seating areas and be more pedestrian friendly. It includes a gazebo, a playground and a water feature.

Stop by The Village at Shirlington Thursdays in July and August from 6:30 to 8:30 for live music and wine tastings in the summer Jazz Series. The performances are held in the plaza in front of the Shirlington Library. Check their website for 2011 dates.

#72 – Attend the Columbia Pike Blues Festival
The Annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival held in June features free live music from national and local artists, lots of food, and a Music Experience Tent where kids can get a mini-lesson in guitar. For 2013 the event will be held June 15th from 1PM to 8 PM on South Walter Reed Drive at Columbia Pike. The lineup for 2013 is below. #71 – Enjoy Free Concerts al fresco at the Lubber Run Park Amphitheater
Lubber Run Park in Arlington Forest has frequently been the site of many Arlington Arts Al Fresco Events including free outdoor dance, musical and theatrical performances. After a hiatus for a couple of years due to budget cuts the free Summer Concert Series returned to Lubber Run Amphitheater in 2011. Shows usually begin in June and continue on most Friday and Saturday evenings with children’s performances on Sundays through early August. Try The Salsa Room on Columbia Pike for dinner and dancing. The club, formerly known as Ceclias, has consistently offered live international Latin acts. They also offer classes and special events throughout the year, including a New Year’s Day event known as Fade2Black coming up on 1-1-11 where you can get a VIP card offering discounted admission for the rest of the year and take salsa and bachata classes. Regular weekly events include “Salsa State of Mind” Thursdays, “Salsa Obsession” Fridays and “Visage” Saturdays. Check their website for details.
