#136 – Take the “Arlington History Ride”
The Arlington History Ride is a 28-mile self guided bike tour with 12 stops at some of Arlington’s historic landmarks. For most riders the tour will take at least four hours but it can be broken into two parts. The tour is best done on a weekend (for bikers or hikers) to include a visit to the Arlington Historical Museum, where it starts and ends. The museum is staffed by volunteer docents. #133 – Come to the Shirlington Summer Jazz Series
Stop by The Village at Shirlington Thursdays in July and August from 6:30 to 8:30 for live music and wine tastings in the summer Jazz Series. The performances are held in the plaza in front of the Shirlington Library. Check their website for 2011 dates.
#132 – Come to the Arlington County Fair
Held at Thomas Jefferson Community Center every August, the Arlington County Fair is one of the largest free events on the East Coast. The fair has carnival rides, entertainment, food vendors, piglet races, competitive events and outdoor movie nights. It typically begins with outdoor activities on the first Wednesday and Thursday evening in August and continues with indoor and outdoor events Friday through Sunday.

#126 – Explore Long Branch Nature Center
Long Branch Nature Center at 625 S. Carlin Springs Road in Arlington features exhibits, a children’s Discovery Room, live animal displays, interpretive gardens, and a viewing pond. Regular programs include Flying Squirrels Lore & More, Wonderful Worms, and Babies in Backpacks.
