Looking for someplace special to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Arlington? This post was originally made in 2010 with specific events around Arlington but to keep it helpful for future years, the details have been removed and links to some of the locations are here for you to check out what might be happening this year.
Many restaurants are offering special meals for New Year’s. Check Open Table for area restaurants with availability. Arlington restaurants that have had special menus planned for New Year’s in the past include:
Arlington Cinema ‘N Drafthouse usually holds a 1980’s style New Year’s Eve Celebration with DJ, Entertainment and party favors and watching the ball drop in NYC on the big movie screen.
Lebanese Taverna at Pentagon Row
Metro usually operates until 3 a.m. both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with trains running on a less-frequent Sunday schedule. You can also check into SoberRide which has offered free taxi rides (up to $30 fare) to anyone 21 or older who needs a ride home. Call 800/200-TAXI when you are ready to leave and expect to wait 30-45 minutes. Check the site ahead of time for details.
#260 – Attend a Benefit for the Planetarium
There will be a Benefit for the Arlington Planetarium at the newly renovated IOTA Club & Cafe in Clarendon on Sunday, December 26 at 8PM. You must be 21 or older and they are requesting a minimum $10 donation. Musical performances include J.P. Reali, The Mantis, Robinson Lee Earle, The Last Monarchs and Lost Civilizations experimental music project.
The Friends of the Planetarium has also launched a 10-day challenge to try to raise $20,000 for the David M. Brown Planetarium which is being threatened with closure if enough funds cannot be raised to support it. Please donate or make a pledge and spread the word. The challenge ends New Years Eve.
In addition, Night at the Planetarium Part 3 will be held on December 29th from 4-9PM. Be sure and visit the Planetarium website for more information.
