October is International Walk or Bike to School Month and Arlington has a designated Walk or Bike to School Day the first Wednesday in October. Check the Walk Arlington website for more information and safety precautions.

Bring your dog to Lacey Woods Park for games for dogs and dog lovers like Scoopy the Poopy and a fun dog show with categories like Best Kisser, Best Tail Wagger and Cutest Costume. This annual event is typically held the first or second Saturday in October. For 2012 the event will be Saturday October 6th from 1-3.
#171 – Practice your swing at the Batting Cages at Upton Hill
Looking forward to baseball season? Practice your own swing at the batting cages at Upton Hill Regional Park at 6060 Wilson Blvd. They have has six baseball cages with slow, medium and fast pitch speeds; and three softball cages, including slow and fast pitch speeds. Bats and helmets are provided free of charge.

#168 – Get outside and watch the moon rise
The Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. Most times of the year the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, but the Harvest Moon rises approximately 30 minutes later, from one night to the next. For 2021, the Harvest Moon will be on September 20th.
