Stop by The Village at Shirlington Thursdays in July and August from 6:30 to 8:30 for live music and wine tastings in the summer Jazz Series. The performances are held in the plaza in front of the Shirlington Library. Check their website for 2011 dates.
#131 – Join Fresh Bikes for Group Bike Rides
Fresh Bikes holds Tuesday night group rides in warmer weather from 6:30-7:30. Meet at Mosaic Park behind Conte’s in Arlington. Riders are placed into three groups based on speed and each group has its own leader. This years Tuesday night rides begin May 3, 2011. They also have a fast-paced women’s only ride on the second Tuesday of the month, starting May 10th, 2011. This will be a 15-mile, hilly loop through Arlington. The “Team Sticky Fingers” ride also starts out of the park adjacent the Fresh Bikes parking lot at 6:30pm. Visit Conte’s website for more information.
#126 – Explore Long Branch Nature Center
Long Branch Nature Center at 625 S. Carlin Springs Road in Arlington features exhibits, a children’s Discovery Room, live animal displays, interpretive gardens, and a viewing pond. Regular programs include Flying Squirrels Lore & More, Wonderful Worms, and Babies in Backpacks.

Free outdoor Zumba classes are being offered Wednesdays at noon in Crystal City during the summer in the courtyard at 2345 Crystal Drive. Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program.
#121 – Take your Puppy to a Puppy Party
Shirlington Dog Park has a puppy party, socialization sessions for puppies ranging in age from four months up to nine months, most Saturday mornings in the “small dog” enclosed areas of park. Check their website for current information.
#117 – Take the Kids to Play at Chestnut Hills Park
Located at the corner of N. Harrison Street and 27th Street N, Chestnut Hills Park is one of the most popular playgrounds in North Arlington. The 4.43 acre tree-shaded park features open green space and an education themed playground.
