#265 – Make your New Year’s Eve Plans
Looking for someplace special to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Arlington? This post was originally made in 2010 with specific events around Arlington but to keep it helpful for future years, the details have been removed and links to some of the locations are here for you to check out what might be happening this year.
Many restaurants are offering special meals for New Year’s. Check Open Table for area restaurants with availability. Arlington restaurants that have had special menus planned for New Year’s in the past include:
Arlington Cinema ‘N Drafthouse usually holds a 1980’s style New Year’s Eve Celebration with DJ, Entertainment and party favors and watching the ball drop in NYC on the big movie screen.
Lebanese Taverna at Pentagon Row
Metro usually operates until 3 a.m. both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with trains running on a less-frequent Sunday schedule. You can also check into SoberRide which has offered free taxi rides (up to $30 fare) to anyone 21 or older who needs a ride home. Call 800/200-TAXI when you are ready to leave and expect to wait 30-45 minutes. Check the site ahead of time for details.
#264 -Warm up with Coffee at The Java Shack
Thanks to GoRemy’s Arlington Rap, we know that Arlington has a Starbuck’s on nearly every corner, but what about the independent coffee shops? The Java Shack at 2507 N. Franklin Street in the Courthouse neighborhood prides itself in being a community gathering spot. The Java Shack was dubbed “The Cheers Coffeehouse” because they take the time to know their customers’ names, drinks and sometimes their lives.
NOTE: The Java Shack is now closed and Sweet Science Coffee has taken its place.
#262 – Have a Capitals Viewing Party at The Front Page
Come to The Front Page in the Ballston area of Arlington where they show every away Capitals game (including one tonight, 12/26, against the Hurricanes) on all 13 HD TVs with $2 Bud Lights during the game. Sunday is also Prime Rib night. Check their website for other daily specials.
NOTE: The Front Page is now closed.
#241 – Check out Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill
Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill, the anxiously awaited new restaurant located at 2424 Wilson Blvd. in the Clarendon/Courthouse opened in 2010 with the large rooftop patio opening the following year. The restaurant is open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 11 pm. They are serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

bit of New Orleans to the Courthouse neighborhood in Arlington. Open 7am-5pm Monday through Saturday. Visit the Bayou Bakery Facebook page for more information.
