The “Party at the Park” fundraising event from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation was held Saturday June 26th, 2010 from 2-8 with Live music, food, prizes, a beer and wine garden, lost dog adoption, and top dog contest. It may be an annual event, so watch for it again in June 2011. In the meantime, visit their website to see how you can help by volunteering, making donations, or adopting.
#72 – Attend the Columbia Pike Blues Festival
The Annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival held in June features free live music from national and local artists, lots of food, and a Music Experience Tent where kids can get a mini-lesson in guitar. For 2013 the event will be held June 15th from 1PM to 8 PM on South Walter Reed Drive at Columbia Pike. The lineup for 2013 is below. #65 – Ride in the Armed Forces Cycling Classic
The Armed Forces Cycling Classic is held in early to mid-June featuring two full days of riding and racing from kids to top pros in Clarendon and Crystal City. You can sign up to ride or just come out to cheer them on.
Clarendon Cup
Saturday will feature the Clarendon Cup, the Washington area’s premier Pro/Am races. High speed bike races will take place on a 1 kilometer course on city streets. There will be amateur races in the morning, followed by the women’s Pro/Am race and kids’ races, which begin at 11:35 a.m. The Men’s Pro race begins approximately 12:05 and is 100 laps.
Crystal Cup
On Sunday, races begin at 7:00am with a closed course open to cyclists of all abilities, the Air Force Association Cycling Classic’s Challenge Ride. All riders must be off the course by 10am.
Some of the top pros in the world will participate in the Men’s pro race, which will be gin immediately after the Challenge Ride. There will be kids’ races, women’s and senior men’s races later in the day.

Rolling To Remember
Memorial Day weekend marks the arrival of hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists to the DC area to participate in Rolling to Remember, (formerly known as Rolling Thunder), a demonstration to pay respect for Veterans who gave their lives for our freedom and accountability for POW-MIAs and to raise awareness for the mental health crisis affecting thousands of Veterans. The motorcyclists meet at the Pentagon in Arlington on Sunday morning before Memorial Day and began their ride to the Lincoln Memorial around noon. #50 – Learn the Tango at the Argentine Festival
Do you love watching Dancing With the Stars and wish you could do the Argentine Tango? Every year since 1988 there has been an Argentine Festival held at various locations in Arlington. For 2024, the 37th festival was held at Kenmore Middle School June 1st and featured Argentine food, crafts, tango lessons and contests.
#41 – Celebrate National Biking Month
May is National Biking Month. On one Sunday in May you can participate in the Washington and Arlington Community Bike Ride where the streets will be car-free. Highlights include an extended section of George Washington Memorial Parkway and visits to the Marine Corps and Air Force Memorials.
