Rosslyn BID sponsors a free summer music series on select Wednesdays in July/August in Central Place Plaza from 4-6:30.
#48 – Dine Al Fresco on the Rooftop or Outdoor Patio at Wilson Hardware
Wilson Hardware has a large rooftop area as well as a covered outdoor patio in addition to its large interior space. They offer a weekend brunch on both Saturday and Sunday, happy hours from 3-7 Tuesday-Friday, and are open every day except Mondays.
NOTE: This post was originally for Ri Ra and their comedy show, which is now closed.
#46 – Enjoy Live Music at B Live
B Live, a live music venue and restaurant with a Beach Bar on the roof opened in 2022 in the former Whitlow’s spot. They are serving brunch, happy hour and dinner.
#45 – Visit an old Southern Railway Caboose at Bluemont Junction
Southern Railway donated this caboose after the Federal government allowed railroads to operate trains without cabooses. Alexandria and Arlington’s grew up around rail lines of the RF&P, the W&OD and two trolley lines (Washington, Alexandria and Mt. Vernon Railway, and the Arlington and Fairfax Railway). The Bluemont Historical Railway Junction Display, Alexandria and Arlington’s only railway museum, is located in the caboose and is open to visitors on weekends.
#44 – Have a picnic and listen to music at Potomac Overlook Park
Starting in late May and every other Saturday through the summer Potomac Overlook Park has musical performances from local groups. There is no admission fee but donations of $5+ per person are requested to help fund the series.
NOTE: These concerts have not been held in recent years, but hopefully will return soon.
#43 – Check out the Beer Garden at Westover Market
#43 – The Beer Garden at Westover Market is open every day rotating six beers on tap and offering wi-fi and food all day every day. They now have outdoor televisions and are showing football games. It’s a great local place to hang out with neighbors and is surprisingly family friendly. They hope to offer live music again in 2022 with performers on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
