‘Twill be nights before Christmas and high overhead, the moon will turn brown or maybe deep red. The Earth and the sun with celestial scripts will conspire to make a lunar eclipse. (courtesy of the Huffington Post)
We will have a total lunar eclipse beginning about 1:30 a.m. EST Tuesday, December 21st which is also the Winter Solstice, something that hasn’t happened in 350 years. Totality will be about 2:41 a.m. EST and will last a little over an hour. If you only want to be outside for a few minutes, try to time it so you are watching at 3:17 a.m. when the moon will be in its deepest shadow.
