Several events are going on this weekend at Arlington National Cemetery to observe Memorial day. Over 250,000 American flags were placed on the gravesites by the Old Guard in a tradition called “Flags In” and they will remain on the gravesites until Monday evening. A new “Price of Freedom” statue was unveiled on May 29th, 2010 and will be on display in the Visitor’s Center. And a Memorial Day Observance ceremony will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the amphitheatre with a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at 11. Plan to arrive early as access to the amphitheatre will be limited for security reasons. It is suggested that visitors plan to be at the amphitheatre or the Tomb of the Unknowns by 9:30 a.m.
