There are several spots in Arlington where you can see the fireworks on the National Mall. I like Lady Byrd Johnson park although traffic can be bad and parking along the GW Parkway is no longer permitted. Long Bridge Park has been a frequent location for family friendly Fourth of July celebrations. Stay Arlington offers these suggestions for the best places to watch the fireworks in Arlington. What are your favorite spots to watch the 4th of July fireworks?
#86 – Visit the Ball-Sellers House
Arlington’s oldest surviving house, Ball-Sellers House, at 5620 Third Street South is open Saturdays from 1-4 April-October. The original one-room cabin with loft was built in 1742. It offers a rare view of what an ordinary person’s house from the 1700’s was like.
#85 – Tuckahoe Home & Garden Tour
Don’t miss Tuckahoe’s Elementary School’s Annual Home and Garden Tour, an annual fundraiser to benefit the Tuckahoe Discovery Schoolyard, typically held in mid-late May. A recent tour featured nine homes, 1 home/garden combo and 1 garden. Tickets are $20.00 in advance, $25.00 on the day of the tour. Visit the website at www.tuckahoetour.org, or on Facebook for more information.
#84 – Dine at Osteria Da Nino
Osteria Da Nino is an authentic Italian restaurant in Shirlington open from 4-9 PM Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 4-10 PM Friday and Saturday. Closed Monday. They occasionally offer special wine dinners or complimentary wine tastings and they have a happy hour daily at the bar from 4-6:30.
NOTE: This post was originally for Extra Virgin in Shirlington, which is now closed.
#83 – Visit the New District Brewing Company
The New District Brewing Company in South Arlington is the first production brewery in Arlington in 100 years. Their tasting room is open daily except Mondays. Check the website for hours.
NOTE: This post was originally for Rock Bottom Brewery in Ballston which is now closed.
#82 – Get Wood Fired Pizza at Pupatella
Try the newly opened Pupatella Neopolitan Pizzeria on Wilson Boulevard. They are known for their red food cart at the Ballston Metro. The pizzeria has a wood fired pizza oven that heats up to 800-1000 degrees, meaning pizzas cook in about 1 minute. They have a great outdoor space as well. And have now opened a second Arlington location on S. Walter Reed Drive as well as expanding to other locations in the DC metropolitan area and Richmond.
